that is said to bring good fortune to the owner.

The contents of this zine will be divided into two (2) sections:

✦ The Yokai ✦

The first part of the zine explores the life and memories of Turbo Granny before the main events of the DanDaDan series, whether that's when she was still human or as the yokai 100 km/hr Granny.

✦ The Doll ✦

The second part of the zine focuses on Turbo Granny's adventures in the same timeline of the series, as she's trapped in a manekineko figurine and joining in on the shenanigans of the DanDaDan ensemble.

Beckoning Luck is a zine project dedicated to Turbo Granny from the DanDaDan series. All works to be created for this zine will be SFW.

Will this zine be physical or digital?

This will be produced as a physical zine with options to bundle it with physical merchandise. We will also produce the zine in digital form along with digital merchandise.

Is this zine for profit or for charity?

This zine is for charity. All profits after contributors have been compensated will be donated to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.NCMEC is a private and non-profit organization that helps find missing children, reduce child sexual exploitation, and prevent child victimization. They are a 4-star charity with a 100% rating in Charity Navigator.Read more about their advocacy on their website.

Can I apply to this project?

Everyone is welcome to submit an application when we open! All interested applicants must be 18 years of age or older by the time of application.

How many contributors will be joining this project?

The final number will depend on the Interest Check results, but we estimate taking in at least 30 contributors in the project, including guests.

Is there any compensation for contributors?

Contributors are guaranteed a digital copy of the zine, all digital merchandise, and the opportunity to purchase all physical items at production cost. Additional packages may be considered depending on final pre-order sales and in consideration of our donation amount.

This is a tentative schedule.
Dates may adjust and any changes to the timeline will be announced on our socials.

Application

✦ All applicants must be 18 years of age or older upon application.✦ Generative AI and plagiarized works will not be accepted and are grounds for automatic disqualification from the application process.✦ Three (3) of your best works must be submitted. All samples must be SFW; samples with Turbo Granny or DanDaDan are preferred but not required.✦ A link to your portfolio must be included. This can include a wider range of your work i.e. higher/lower word count fics or additional illustrations/comics. Social media links will not be accepted for portfolio submissions. AO3 link are acceptable for writers.

Writers
✦ Samples must be within 1,500-3,000 words.
✦ Threadfics are not allowed and will be disregarded.Artists
✦ Artists must submit samples of colored art pieces.
✦ Backgrounds are not required, but highly preferred.
✦ If submitting a comic sample, clean lineart is required at minimum.Merch
✦ Artists must submit samples in merch format. (i.e. acrylic charm design, pin design, sticker design)
✦ Produced designs are not required, but are highly encouraged.

Creation

✦ All communications about the project will be done through Discord.✦ Missing two (2) check-ins without any communication to the Mod team is grounds for removal from the project. Contributors are given a grace period of 5 days from when a moderator last reached out to provide a resolution.✦ Any contributor with works found to contain racist, homophobic, and/or bigoted content, as well as plagiarized or prompted through generative AI, will be removed from the project and their work will not be published in the zine.✦ All works for this project must focus mainly on Turbo Granny in a canon-compliant universe. We also encourage her interactions with other characters, both canon and original.

Writers
✦ One (1) fic with a count between 1,500-2,000 words.
✦ The story must focus on Turbo Granny and should be SFW.Zine Artists
✦ Page Art: One (1) original and fully rendered illustration with a background.
✦ Comic: One (1) comic strip with a minimum of two (2) pages and a maximum of six (6) pages.
✦ Spot Art: At least one (1) colored collaborative artwork that matches their assigned writer’s work. Please note that this is an optional and collaborative work for any artists who want to contribute more.Merch Artists
✦ Two (2) to three (3) merch designs. A merch lineup will be provided for accepted artists to select the merch type that they want to design for.
